[FREE iPHONE GAME] Mekorama - Adventure Puzzle Game - Help The Robot Find the Exit - Similar To Monument Valley

Today FREE iPhone Game of the day is Mekorama.

What is this game about?
Mekorama is an adventure puzzle game where you need to guide the robot to find exit of each level.

Gameplay and Objectives
Play as the orange robot, your main objective is to find a way to the exit point, marked as red dot on each level.

If you look at the game, its graphics, levels, coloring, everything makes it similar to Monument Valley game (link). However Mekorama is not that 'complicated' compared to Monument Valley.
You don't need to flip over just to create a new horizon to find a path. As long as you can see there's a path, then you can pass on.

On certain level, you'll meet red robot which stand in your way, blocking the path. All you need to do is to 'push' him to the exit point so that you can reach the exit point.

Control
Tap anywhere on the platform to move the robot. As long as nothing is blocking his way, then the robot will eventually walk and reach your point.

Swipe left and right to change the view.

On certain levels, you need to drag the moveable platform to help you transit from one platform to another platform.

First Impression
Interesting game, but feels a bit empty and too easy to play with.

So far (i reached level 11 already) the puzzle is all easy for me, no hidden and complicated path like the one in Monument Valley. And so far no enemies you need to avoid or eliminate. That's why a bit empty and easy to play.

Get New Level and Level Editor
You can get a new level by going to its Facebook page or official forum page and scan the level barcode to get it.

Or if you think you are creative enough, why not try create your own level using the level editor.

The Verdict
Although the game is rather simple, Mekorama is still fun and interesting game to play with. I, myself, will give 4 out of 5 stars. Minus 1 star is because of the game is too easy and quite empty - no challenge.

[FREE iPHONE APP] Geocaching - Real World Treasure Hunting Activities for Adventure Lovers

Today FREE iPhone App of the day is Geocaching.

What is this app about?
Geocaching is a treasure hunting app that combines digital with real world locations. If you ever played Ingress before, then they are doing similar concept, combining digital with real world.
Geocaching itself is a term used by Geocachers community for the hide-and-seek treasure hunting activities.

App Features
Geocaching uses your GPS coordinates to locate the treasures. On the map, pick any location with the colored dot. There are dark green dot, dark blue dot, orange dot, red dot, light blue dot.

Each colored dot represents something. For example, dark green dot represents a traditional geocache, while dark blue dot represents mystery that needs to be solved.
Once you found the Geocache, log your ID into it and/or take photos for proof.
The awesome thing about Geocaching is that it's spread world wide, and most of the time requires your adventurous skill to find and solve the Geocache.

Membership
Geocaching requires you to be a member. There are 2 types of memberships: free and premium.
With free membership, you can treasure hunting any traditional Geocaches, events Geocaches, while the rest of Geocaches are unfortunately only available for premium users.

The Verdict

Airmar OnSiteWX Weather and Instrument Display

Instrument data is more prevalent than ever on modern cruising yachts. Having easy access to this data can be very useful for monitoring your yachts engine performance and function.

Sailors will be interested in instrument data like Speed, COG, Wind speed and Direction. The ever popular Depth indication is needed on all yachts. Most of these can be viewed from the helm station or at the chart table if you have instrument repeaters.

Having all of your instrument data broadcast over WiFi makes it available to mobile devices like tablets or mobile phones wherever you are on the boat.

There are many NMEA to WiFi devices that can be connected to your navigation systems to broadcast the data over WiFi. I have written about many of these apps over the years on this blog. I have a list of my top 10 instrument data apps shown here. I think this app may be worthy to make the list.

I recently acquired a DMK Marine 11a module for my yacht.
This device has the option of connecting to NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000 or Raymarine SeaTalk instruments and broadcasting this data over WiFi. The versatility of this unit is the reason I selected it.

MillPort Media has developed an app called OneSiteWx to display all kinds of weather and NMEA 0183 and 2000 data. It is compatible with all the Airmar weather station products so it can provide all the weather data directly to your mobile device.

The app is unique in that it can provide weather data but also can display any of your boats NMEA 2000 or 0183 data.The app is available from the AppStore from here.

There are several pages of instruments already developed for the most popular readings you will need. Custom pages can also be created with 1, 2, 3 or 4 instruments per page so you can group the instruments as needed.

The beauty of this OnSiteWX app is that you can use the standard pages to display data and you can also create custom pages of any grouping of instruments that you want.

Select the green MENU button on the upper right of the app display. The Menu page contains the options to display some Demo data on the displays, Select Display Preferences, Manage pages, Create custom pages and more.

Select Create Custom Pages to develop your own pages for the data you want to display. A screen with four selections will come up. Select the number of instruments per page. Simply hold your finger down on the instrument and a menu of instrument types will come up.

Select the instrument type for each of the custom instrument displays on your page.

There are 60 different types of instrument to select from. The custom display can then be save or renamed for your reference.

The Adapter Selection provides a list of the many WiFi devices that the app is compatible with. The adapter is the device that provides your yachts weather and marine data over WiFi. If your WiFi device is not listed select the NEW button on the top to create the IP address, port and protocol settings for your device.

I am impressed with the OnSiteWX app not only for the ability to display all the weather data I need but that it also can display all of my instrument data from my yacht. Having all of this data in one app makes it more convenient and easily accessible. This means I don't have to jump between several apps the get the data I need.

The apps is free so you can't complain about the price. It is definitely worth picking up and giving it a try.

Gameplay and Objectives
There are 3 game modes in Hero Legend. They are Arcade, Challenge and Dreamland.

First time playing, only Arcade mode is unlocked.And only Wukong the Monkey King is available. Play with Wukong for the time being until you unlocked other characters such as Po the 'Kung Fu Panda' on subsequent levels.

You can however, unlocked all the characters directly using in-app purchase - just in case you want to use them so badly.

Control
In this hit 'em all game, control is simple.

On left side of the screen, there are 3 buttons: 2 arrow and 1 switch button. Press left to move to the left, press right to move to the right. Hit the switch button to switch between characters.
On right side of the screen, there are 6 buttons: 1 punch button, 1 jump button and 4 special attack buttons.

The Verdict
Hero Legend, although not really strong in the story line but is a perfect side scrolling action adventure game. All you need to care is beat the enemies. Perfect for hit 'em all gamers.

The app is totally easy to play with. Navigating, creating and utilizing all the above mentioned features is also simple, you can find and learn to do all the mentioned features with just minimal time and without the need of user guide. Although there are certain things I admit I'm disappointed, things like: the size limit of images attached to a reminder for the free version, limiting moments to just 5 moments a month for free version.

The Verdict
Any.do, apart from the 'limit' given for FREE version of the app, is still a great task and to-do list app everybody should use. Any.do requires internet connection to use, however, in the event you don't have internet connection, it will then store locally first and sync whenever you are connected to the internet.

Gameplay and Objectives
Playing Marvel Avengers Academy is like playing the Sims, except you don't need to care about their food and poop.

First time playing, you will have only Tony Stark aka Iron Man and his girlfriend Pepper Potts. Recruit the other superheroes to join the Academy by convincing them. That's where the game has objectives and missions.

Depends on who you recruit, you'll be tasked by different missions and objectives. However, like The Sims, when you do the task, you just need to command it and doesn't really do something.

Play both the main quest and side quest. Sometimes, in order to continue playing the main quest, you need to play and complete the side quest.

First Impression
I have been playing this game on and off in the past few days. So far I have collected Iron Man, Wasp, Loki and Black Widow.

From the game description, I thought this game will be an action game, but turned out it's more like The Sims kind of game. And since for each task and objective to be completed, you actually just put command and doesn't really do something, that's what I find boring.

It will be great if those tasks, you actually need to do something, interacting with your phone like tapping the screen or tilting the device, rather than just see the command being done.

The Verdict
Marvel Avengers Academy is The Sims kind of game with Marvel Avengers characters. If you like The Sims game, then this game is great for you. If you, like me, more in an action game, this game will be a disappointment for you. Anyway, the game is still good for its graphics and Marvel story.
